No clue? No problem.
For private parties and for corporate events. Including the question of what is in which plan, and what is not.
Getting started & setup
How quickly is my event ready to go?
A few minutes, no more: sign up for free, name the event, pick a plan. QR code and print template are there straight away, the first 10 photos or videos cost nothing, and you type a card number nowhere to get them. You can still manage this on the morning of the party.
How do my guests get into the album?
Two ways, both on the same print template: the QR code at the top or the short link underneath for typing in, in the form momentum.photo/g/abcd-2345-mnpq. Characters that get mixed up, like 0 and O or 1 and l, are thrown out of the alphabet, because at half eleven at night nobody types those correctly any more. Both land in the same album, on every plan.
Can I create several albums in one event?
With Premium and Professional, as many as your day has chapters: "Registry office", "Celebration", "Brunch". Each carries its own QR code, its own welcome message and, if you want, its own logo and colour, and it is still billed as one event. Standard carries exactly one album, and everything else about it is unlimited.
Can I manage the album together with other people?
Yes, and on every plan. Invite co-hosts by e-mail and they get the same rights as you: upload, approve photos, design, administer. They need an account of their own for that, a payment they do not, and your password least of all.
What do I need for the photo booth?
A tablet or phone with a camera and a current browser, iPadOS 16.4 and up or an Android tablet. Open your album address, allow the camera once, stand the device up. No app, no rented hardware, no login. Plus a power supply and something to keep the thing upright. The photo booth is included from the Premium plan up.
Which print templates do I get?
On Standard the A4 sign for the entrance or the gift table. Premium and Professional bring the whole range: signs in A4 and A5, cards in A6 and A7, a folded table tent and an A4 sheet with eight cards to cut apart, each in five paper styles from elegant to dark. Everything arrives as a finished PDF, so you design nothing and you ask nobody you know to do it either.
Plans & features
Which plan suits me?
Standard is enough if the pictures simply need to end up in one place: one album, 6 months. Premium is the whole celebration: unlimited albums, 12 months, Live-Wall on the big screen, photo booth on a tablet, photo challenges, song requests, guestbook with voice messages and photo looks. Professional is the company plan: 24 months, photo approval, priority support and an invoice made out to your company that accounting can actually work with.
What is in the Standard plan and what is not?
In there: one album with a QR code, unlimited guests, unlimited photos and videos, the download in original quality, an optional access code, hiding individual pictures, the A4 sign to print, 6 months of runtime and a 30 day upload period. Not in there: Live-Wall, photo booth, photo challenges, song requests, guestbook, photo looks, further albums, the rest of the print range and photo approval. We write it out this plainly because that is not something you want to find out on the evening of the party.
What does Premium add?
Everything that turns an album into an evening: Live-Wall on a projector or TV, photo booth on any tablet, photo challenges with an optional leaderboard, song requests plus the DJ console, guestbook with voice messages and the photo looks for one consistent style. On top of that any number of albums, the complete print range, 12 months of runtime instead of 6 and a 90 day upload period instead of 30.
What is different about Professional?
Professional does everything Premium does and adds what only companies ask for: photo approval, so no picture goes live until you have approved it, blocking individual guests and your own logo on the Live-Wall. Plus 24 months of storage and priority support. Like every plan, the price is an end price including VAT. The invoice is made out to your company, and businesses from other EU countries with a valid VAT ID get it as a reverse-charge invoice.
Is there a limit anywhere on guests, photos or videos?
No, on no plan. Any number of guests upload any amount, videos up to 1 GB per file, on Standard too. The only things limited are the periods and the number of albums, never the quantity, and here a guest costs nothing at all.
Can I change plan later?
While your event is unpaid, at any time yourself in the dashboard, free of charge and in both directions. After payment you still switch yourself, but only upwards: you just pay the difference to the bigger plan, online it unlocks immediately, by bank transfer as soon as the money reaches us. Runtime and upload period grow along with it, and your album forgets nothing: whatever you had configured before is back after the upgrade. Going back to a smaller plan is not possible after payment.
For guests
Do my guests need an app or an account?
No. Scan, type a name, upload, all in the browser. No app, no registration, no password, no confirmation mail, and that on every plan. Nobody installs anything voluntarily at a party anyway.
Which file formats work?
For photos JPEG, PNG, WebP and HEIC/HEIF from the iPhone. For videos MP4, MOV, WebM and AVI up to 1 GB per file, converted for the web automatically. Large videos go up in parts, so they arrive even through that one dead spot in the function room.
Which languages does the album work in?
In 20 languages, from German and English through to Turkish and Bulgarian. Which one it is, the album reads off the guest’s browser, so everybody gets their own and nobody has to change a setting anywhere. That is exactly what an international wedding or a corporate event with guests from several countries needs.
Can guests download photos?
Yes, every single one, at full screen size and without camera data or location, on every plan. The original files are yours as the host, in the closing archive. If that is too much tapping, switch on "Download all photos" per album and the lot comes down at once as a ZIP. The switch is off by default, and the package only holds what is visible in the album anyway.
Do the photos lose quality?
No, nothing gets squashed down to a stamp here. The original file stays untouched, including all capture data (EXIF). For quick display there are optimised preview images alongside it, and even a photo look only affects those previews, never the original.
Can I protect the album with a code as well?
Yes, one short access code per album, included on every plan. That is the case for the card being passed around the table that nobody can account for afterwards. Watch out though: the code protects the album page. Anyone already holding a direct picture link can still open that one picture.
Private parties
How do I show the photos live on the projector?
With the Live-Wall (Premium and Professional): open it on a laptop connected to the projector or TV, go full screen, done. New photos join on their own, videos play muted. You can set the layout, the pace from 1 to 60 seconds, the transitions and a QR code shown for latecomers; your own logo on the wall belongs to the Professional plan. You see how the whole thing looks in the live preview beforehand, rather than for the first time in front of a full room.
What are photo challenges?
Little assignments your guests tick off in the album: "a photo with the couple", "the worst shoe of the evening". 13 ready-made templates with 10 challenges each are waiting, in the language you use them in, and you can rewrite or extend every one of them. The leaderboard is optional and off by default, because a competition is right for a wedding and wrong for a funeral reception. Included in Premium and Professional.
Is there a digital guestbook?
Yes, in Premium and Professional, written or spoken: your guests record a voice message right in the browser, without an app. That saves everybody who can no longer get a straight sentence onto paper by one in the morning. The recordings are in the final archive later too, so you keep the voices as well as the pictures.
Can my guests request songs?
Yes, in Premium and Professional. Your guests type artist and title into the album and get suggestions while doing it; identical requests merge into one entry with a counter, so it becomes visible what the room really wants. The guest deliberately never gets a response. What gets played is the DJ’s call based on the mood in the room, and nobody should read a no on their phone at half past one.
How does my DJ get the requests?
Through a link of their own rather than an account. You generate it in the Music tab of your album and pass it on. It opens the request list and nothing else: accept, decline, drag the running order with a finger, add tracks. Your DJ never gets to see your photos, your payments or a single delete button, and the moment you generate a new link the old one is worthless.
Can I give all the photos the same look?
Yes, with the photo looks (Premium and Professional). You pick one of 10 looks, from a warm film look to black & white, and all your guests’ pictures appear in it. A hundred phones with a hundred opinions about colour turn into an album. A guest sees how it works on their own picture before uploading, and because the originals stay unfiltered you can change the look at any time or switch it off entirely.
My photographer only delivers weeks later. Does that still work?
Yes, because no photographer on earth delivers on the Monday. The upload period only slows the guests down; you and your co-hosts keep uploading for as long as the runtime runs. That is exactly what it is built for.
Corporate events
Can I review photos before guests see them?
Yes, with photo approval in the Professional plan: new uploads land in an approval queue and only become visible after you release them. Independently of that, you can hide or delete individual shots at any time on every plan. A hidden photo can no longer be opened afterwards, not even through a picture link that has already been passed on.
Do we get an invoice, and what about VAT?
Yes, always. You can pay by bank transfer on invoice or online by card, PayPal, Klarna, SEPA direct debit or iDEAL. All three plans are end prices including VAT, and the invoice is made out to your company. Companies in the EU with a valid VAT ID receive a reverse-charge invoice.
Does the album carry our corporate design?
Yes: your own logo, your own cover image, a freely selectable accent colour and your own welcome message, configurable per album. The Live-Wall additionally gets a logo of its own, because a dark projection often suits a different mark than the album page. Your guests experience your event, not our platform.
How do I structure a larger event?
Through several albums within one event (Premium and Professional): one per programme item, location or day, each with its own QR code and its own look. It is still billed as one event. You bring your organising team in as co-hosts with full rights, so photo approval and administration rest on several shoulders.
Is that enough for our compliance?
Every guest confirms a data protection consent before participating, documented with a timestamp. There is no public album, no search and no indexing by search engines; the data sits on servers inside the EU, and at the end of the runtime everything is deleted. No app installation on company devices, no guest accounts, no shadow IT. If your requirements are stricter, talk them through with us beforehand.
How long do the pictures stay available to us?
With 24 months of storage, Professional is built so that you can still reach the pictures in the next financial year for the intranet, recruiting or the year in review. Premium is 12 months, Standard 6. A complete ZIP of all media in original quality is yours to download from the dashboard at any time anyway.
Price & runtime
What does momentum cost?
Once per event, done. No subscription, no licence per guest, no invoice turning up again next spring. There are three plans to choose from, and in every one of them the first 10 photos or videos are free, with no payment details. What the plans cost is on the pricing page.
When exactly do I have to pay?
With the 11th medium at the latest: further uploads pause at that point until you unlock the event with the one-time payment. Earlier is always allowed, right after creating it for example. Everything already uploaded stays visible while that happens, nothing is lost.
When does the runtime start, and does it run from my payment?
Not from the payment, but from the first real use: the clock starts with the 11th medium, so on the day of your event, and the upload period begins at the same moment. You can therefore plan and pay months in advance without losing a day of runtime. It is 6 months on Standard, 12 on Premium and 24 on Professional, each counted from first real use. There is exactly one limit: a paid event in which nothing at all happens for 24 months gets archived.
How long can my guests upload?
The upload period runs from the 11th medium: 30 days on Standard, 90 days on Premium, 120 days on Professional. After that you can extend it once for free by 30 days, and every further extension of 90 days costs. For you as the host nothing ends: you keep uploading for the whole runtime, and the album stays visible the entire time.
What happens at the end of the runtime?
You automatically get an archive link with every shot as a ZIP, valid for 4 weeks. After that all media and guest data are deleted. You do not have to wait for it: a complete ZIP of every album in original quality is yours to download from the dashboard at any time, as often as you like.
Do the photo booth pictures count towards the free trial?
Yes, they are perfectly ordinary uploads. At a party the trial allowance is therefore gone after the first round, and the booth stores nothing more until the event is paid. So unlock it beforehand and not at half past ten with a phone in one hand and a glass in the other.
How do vouchers work?
Vouchers give a percentage discount on the event price and are redeemed at checkout, or already when you create the event. At 100 % discount your event is unlocked straight away.
Data protection & security
Who can see the photos?
Only those with the album link or QR code. There is no public album, no search and no indexing by search engines. On top of that you can give each album an access code or deactivate it entirely.
Is momentum GDPR compliant?
Yes. Every guest confirms a data protection consent before participating (documented with a timestamp), the album is only reachable through the secret link, the data sits on servers inside the EU, and at the end of the runtime all media and guest data are deleted.
How are the files delivered?
Through a worldwide network of caches, a CDN, so the pictures load quickly everywhere. Every file has a randomly generated, unguessable address; there is no directory, no search and no indexing. Anyone who knows such an address or is passed it, however, can open the file: an access code protects the album page, not the individual file.
Can I remove individual guest uploads?
Yes, on every plan: hide it (invisible to guests, still there for you) or delete it permanently, at any time with one click. Hiding a photo also removes the delivered previews, so a picture link that has already been passed on leads nowhere afterwards.
Your question was not in there?
Then write to us. We answer quickly, in German or English, not in three working days and not through a ticket system.
You are going to celebrate anyway. The only question is what is left of it on Monday.
